Peter Julian

Founder / Owner

With over 35 years of expertise in landscape construction and property maintenance, Peter proudly leads Rock Shelter Landscape Design & Construction. His journey in landscaping began as a summer job, evolving into a 10-year informal education emphasizing the link between planning, design, and construction. He is passionate about creating outdoor spaces that enhance aesthetic appeal and contribute to functionality and long-term sustainability. Peter enjoys working and creating spaces within the very community he has spent his life.

Corey Gaffney

Field Operations / Sales

Corey has loved the outdoors and working with it from a young age. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Landscape Contracting and an Associate’s degree in Ornamental Horticulture from SUNY Cobleskill. Corey’s journey began in Long Island, NY, where he honed his skills crafting rooftop gardens, enhancing city parks in NYC, and crafting residential projects. In late 2013, he returned to his hometown of Bethel. Since then, he’s primarily worked in the lower Fairfield and Westchester counties, overseeing a wide range of landscape endeavors, from meadow installations and complete property transformations to weekly maintenance and managing crews. Corey’s dedication and passion for outdoor beauty shines through in his work.

Brian Herlihy

Field Support Supervisor

Landscaping and construction have followed Brian his entire life.  At 16 years old he spent his summers cutting lawns for a local maintenance company, in fact, this is where Peter and Brian first met.  After high school, Brian went on to graduate from SUNY Purchase with a BA in criminal justice, eventually joining the local police department serving the very community he grew up in.  While on the job, his off days were spent working with contractors learning everything from carpentry to painting.  Since retiring early from the police force, Brian quickly turned his passion for food and cooking into part of his every day.  From 2012 to 2015, he successfully launched and operated a Mediterranean restaurant receiving the National Heralds top 50 restaurants on the east coast award.  Brian is now part of the Rock Shelter team assisting with construction operations and private home management supporting our field crews in every aspect of the job.

Marvin Rodriguez

Construction Team Leader

At the age of 25, Marvin came to the US looking to start a career and life here with his family.  Interested in learning a new trade, he was able to secure a job with a landscape contractor where he spent the next 25 years absorbing and mastering all aspects of landscape construction.  Had it not been for is previous employers decision to retire, Rock Shelter would not have been fortunate to have had such a fantastic employee join our team in 2019.  Marvin currently heads up one of our landscape construction teams managing on site tasks from excavation and drainage to masonry and plantings.  During the winter, if there is snow you will find him running one of our many snow and ice sites or traveling back to his native country to visit family when mild weather allows.

Maynor Soto

Maintenance Team Leader

Maynor joined the Rock Shelter LDC team in early 2022. Beginning as a maintenance team member, Maynor’s remarkable learning and problem-solving skills propelled him to the role of Maintenance Team Leader in a short span. His dedication to his work and team members is evident in the time he invests in teaching and supporting others within the team. When not working, Maynor enjoys travelling and spending time with his family and friends. 

Marzia Panetta

Office / Marketing Manager

Overseeing day-to-day tasks, Marzia combines her knowledge and experience of business management, marketing and the green industry to guarantee a smooth operation. Marzia ensures all employees are happy, appreciated and always taken care of. She knows the importance of organization, team-work and strategic planning needed to achieve optimal results in the office, and at each and every job site. 

Christy Nieves

Business Manager

Christy joined the RS team in 2017 as their Business Manager, following two decades as a Private Club Controller in Westchester County, NY.  Her vast knowledge of business management with strong skills in customer service and team support has made her addition to RS, a great one.  Christy enjoys time with her children and husband in Connecticut as well as volunteering with many school related activities and serving on those committees.
